BandFest and OrffFest will celebrating elementary school music and skill development

BandFest 2024 is set to showcase the musical talents of elementary school bands from across the district. This year, the event promises even more excitement with the introduction of OrffFest, a pilot program aiming to enrich the musical experiences of students.
On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Centennial Secondary School will come alive with melodies and rhythms as eight elementary schools gather to participate in BandFest and the inaugural OrffFest. Students will have the unique opportunity to perform for each other and a distinguished adjudicator.
The event is not merely a platform for performances but also a hub for learning and skill development. Each band will have the chance to showcase their talents, engage in workshops led by the adjudicator, and listen attentively as their peers from different schools take the stage. This blend of performance and education makes BandFest and OrffFest not only a celebration of achievements but also a stepping stone for students to enhance their musical skill.
Funding for this enriching experience is provided by the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the Quinte Arts Council.
BandFest and OrffFest, which feature a wide array of musical instruments including the enchanting Orff instruments such as xylophones and metallophones, promise to be a memorable celebration of music, learning, and camaraderie among elementary schools in our district.
