WHAT: Student Google Summit for students in Grades 4-8

WHEN: Thursday, October 11 for students in Grades 6-8; and Friday, October 12, 2018 for students in Grades 4-5

WHERE: Harmony Public School, 626 Harmony Road, Corbyville

A Google Summit is a high intensity event that focuses on teaching, learning and integrating Google applications, such as Google Docs, Slides and Classroom, as well as other Google tools, for student learning in K-12 education. Students will participate in four learning sessions.

Maps, Snaps and Chats: Be Safe, Savvy and Smart on those Apps

Get expert advice about being safe online and practical skills for being "social savvy." Learn about practices used by governments and celebrities when using social networks to build and protect a positive online image, and defend against cyber bullying and online trolls. Students will be introduced to exciting cutting edge technologies through hands-on activities and examples.

Tech'n it to the Natural Environment

Do you like to explore and examine the natural world? Are you interested in joining researchers and nature enthusiasts from across Canada in tracking rapid changes in our natural environment? Come explore the outdoors with a tech twist.

Who Am I? Developing Your Digital Portfolio

Discover yourself, explore your opportunities and share what matters in an interactive portfolio that stays with you from grade to grade.

Bots, Bricks and Bits

Solve challenges and create your own computer program by selecting and snapping together bits of code. These simple sequences of behaviour blocks will make bricks and bots move, spin, sing and blink.

Get Slides Savvy!

You may be familiar with Google Slides, but do you know how to really impress your teacher? We will look at Google Slides as a way to share your thinking and creativity so you can present like a pro! Learn tips and tricks to up your Google Slides game.

Old School Technology: Building Our Future Through Play

Did you know that your hands are connected to 70-80% of your brain? We will use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methods to uncover solutions to challenges with technology. By using your hands and accessing your right and left brain, you will quickly learn how you know more than you think you know! Join us for music, Lego building, and hard fun!
