National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21,2024

Friday, June 21, 2024 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This day recognizes and celebrates the history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across Canada. For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.

We acknowledge and honour the land on which we reside and occupy as part of the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe people. These Indigenous Nations agreed to mutual sharing obligations and responsibilities as stewards of the land and water. Today these responsibilities and obligations extend to all Peoples. These lands are steeped in rich Indigenous history, traditions and modern cultures that are proud and vibrant.
