In 2014, HPEDSB received Ministry of Education funding to build a new Kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Trenton to consolidate students from Breadner Elementary School, College Street Public School and (the former) Queen Elizabeth Public School. The new school is being built on the site of the former Queen Elizabeth Public School which was closed and demolished during the summer of 2015. Students from that school were accommodated primarily at Breadner Elementary School.

The new school is scheduled to open in January 2017. Its design is similar to other schools that have been built in HPEDSB in the past few years. It will be a rectangle-shaped 1 ½ storey building of 55,500 square feet for approximately 560 students.

HPEDSB Procedure 210: Textbook/Learning Material Selection, Purchase and Approval, sets out expectations for principals and teachers to follow when such materials are not found on the list provided by the Ministry, subject to the approval of the Board. Board members approved 23 French books for use in secondary schools.
