College St. PS hosting an electronic waste fundraiser, Sat., May 4, 2013

College Street Public School is holding an electronics waste fundraiser in partnership with with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship. This event is to provide a safe way to dispose of electronics and to support student learning.

DATE: Saturday, May 4, 2013
LOCATION: College Street Public School, 20 South Street, Trenton

Community members are invited to drop off unwanted, outdated or broken electronics waste for free. The school will receive funds, based on the amount collected, which will be used to support a year-end trip for Grade 8 students and to purchase technology for the school.

List of electronic waste accepted by the Ontario Electronic Stewardship

  • Televisions and computer monitors, including cathode ray tube (CRT), rear projection and all flat panel technologies, such as LCD, Plasma, LED
  • Professional display devices
  • Desktop and portable computers, such as laptops, notebooks, net-books, tablets
  • After-market vehicle audio and video devices
  • AM/FM radios
  • Answering machines that use cassette-based or digital recording technologies
  • Cordless telephones with an electrical base station/handset cradle for battery charging and wire-line network connection
  • Desktop multi-function devices
  • Desktop printers
  • Desktop printing, copying and multi-functional devices
  • Digital picture frames
  • Digital projectors
  • Digital video disk (DVD) players and recorders
  • Fax machines
  • Handheld printers, such as calculators with printing capabilities or label makers
  • Hard drives
  • Home stereo amplifiers and home stereo systems
  • Home theaters-in-a-box, which includes home theater image audio and video equipment and speakers
  • Keyboards
  • Computer mice
  • Modems
  • Optical drives
  • Point of sale (POS) receipt printers
  • Scanners
  • Stereo speakers and computer speakers
  • Turntables, record Players and gramophones
  • Typewriters powered by an AC power plug or by internal battery unit
  • Video cassette players (VCRs) and/or video projectors
  • VoIP phones
  • Wire line telephones, including rotary and touch-tone technologies
  • Floor standing printers
  • Floor standing photocopiers
