ABOUT THE VENTURE PROGRAM
The Venture Program is a two-year program for students in Grades 9 and 10. Students engage in dynamic learning opportunities based expanding their knowledge and use of 21st Century technology and through experiential activities through in-class and extra-curricular components.

  • Students will be timetabled together for a minimum of one course per semester to connect and extend their learning to and beyond the classroom.
  • Venture students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness, enthusiasm and a willingness to solve problems, which will prepare them well for post-secondary education. Skills necessary for the 21st Century will be developed through the use of experiential activities, guest speakers, technology and trips.

Each student will be paired with a teacher-mentor who will work with a group of Venture students with like-minded interests. This approach fosters support through contact with a staff member and close peer group, and allows for open communication with parents. These teacher-mentor/student groups provide a setting for students to discuss academic concerns and opportunities for enrichment in and outside the classroom. They also create a small group setting outside the larger Venture group to foster strong communication and collaboration skills.

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS
Students in the Venture Program will expand their knowledge and use of 21st Century skills through a wide range of experiential learning activities.

Upon successful completion of the two-year Venture Program, students will receive:

  • a Venture Program certificate to include in a portfolio for job and post-secondary applications
  • the opportunity to enroll in Advanced Placement courses in Grades 11 and 12
