School board announces new Superintendent of School Climate & Student Well-being Services
Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is pleased to announce Mark Fisher as the new Superintendent of School Climate & Student Well-being Services. He is taking the place of Colleen DeMille who is currently in the role. DeMille has accepted a secondment to the Ministry of Education.
"Mark has a wide range of experience as a dynamic educational leader at the school, district and provincial levels. All Board members gave their full support to him joining our senior leadership team,"remarked Dwayne Inch, Chair of the Board.
Fisher has been recognized for his ability to build collaborative relationships, to develop and implement strategic plans, and to effectively communicate organizational goals to all stakeholders. He is known as a reflective educator who strives to help students and employees achieve their full potential by challenging and supporting them in their learning and professional journeys.
"The senior team is looking forward to Mark coming on board. I am confident that his experiences in leading mental health, safe schools and student well-being initiatives will serve students and our organization very well. At the same time, we wish Colleen continued career success. We all feel a mix of emotions because Colleen has been a driving force in leading our character development, employee leadership and student well-being initiatives,"stated Mandy Savery-Whiteway, Director of Education.
Fisher obtained his Bachelor of Arts at McGill University, his Master of Science in Education at Niagara University and his Master of International Education at Charles Sturt University. He comes to HPEDSB from the Ministry of Education as a Student Achievement Officer. Prior to that, he held the roles of System Principal-Special Education Services and Principal, both with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board.
Fisher is married with two children and lives in Castleton.
