The third Friday of October is designated as Canadian Library Support Staff Day. This year it is recognized on Friday, October 18.

According to the Canadian Library Association, the purpose of the day is to celebrate and show appreciation for the work of library technicians, library assistants, library clerks, pages, shelvers, and all other support staff members who perform daily miracles in public, private, school, government, academic and corporate libraries.

At Hastings and Prince Edward District School, library technicians engage with students each day to promote a love of reading, and to connect students and staff with library resources to support student learning and achievement. Their organizational skills are a vital part of keeping our school libraries and learning commons areas as the literacy hubs of our schools.

Please join in recognizing Canadian Library Support Staff Day on Friday, October 18.
