Message from Mandy Savery-Whiteway, Director of Education

Wednesday, October 30, 2013, is recognized as Child Care Worker & Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day in Ontario. It is a time to recognize the skills and commitment of employees who engage with young children.

The AiM-Achievement in Motion for Student Success System Plan supports the development and implementation of play-based inquiry learning environments in Kindergarten, including Full-day Kindergarten. The Full-day Kindergarten Program is implemented in 75% of our schools and will be fully implemented in the 2014-2015 school year.

At Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, early childhood educators are in elementary schools which offer Full-day Kindergarten. They work in partnership with the classroom teacher, contributing to our students' social, intellectual, emotional and physical development.

Students, families and communities benefit from the caring actions and dedication of our early childhood educators. Their commitment to young children is truly valued at Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.

Please join in celebrating early childhood educators this Wednesday.
