Summary of the feedback from the school climate surveys

It is a priority for Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board to promote safe, healthy, respectful and inclusive schools and workplaces. Hearing from parents/guardians, students and employees about the school environment, also known as the school climate-such as feeling safe and thoughts about bullying, equity and inclusivity at school-can help to assess perceptions of safety and improve schools and our school board.

These improvements can lead to higher levels of achievement for each student and to enhanced employee growth and wellness.

In the fall of 2013, parents/guardians, students and school‐based employees were invited to complete school climate surveys in all HPEDSB schools.

The survey contained six distinct sections:

  1. Learning at Our School
  2. Feeling Safe at School
  3. Feeling Welcome & Included
  4. Learning About Others
  5. Feelings About Well-being
  6. Bullying
