Several Bayside SS students took top honours in the Legion Remembrance Contest

Congratulations to several Bayside Secondary School students who achieved excellent results in this year's Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Contest.

At the local competition level, Bayside competed with schools as far west as Oshawa. All Bayside participants were selected to compete at the regional level. Each student winner was awarded a cash prize and a certificate of achievement.

Writerz Ink, a creative writing group that meets on a bi-weekly basis, would like to acknowledge five members who helped to sweep the poetry intermediate and senior categories: Emily Terpstra (1st-senior), David Shuter (3rd-senior), Leah Danaher (1st -intermediate), Joshua Terpstra (2nd-intermediate), and Sarah Kelly (3rd-intermediate).

Grade 10 student Isabel Zak earned second place in the senior poetry division and Frank Edison placed first in the senior essay division.

Bayside has strong creative writers and talented artists, too! Cynthia Mourez placed first in the senior colour poster category and Joshua Terpstra placed first in the intermediate black and white category.

Congratulations to these students for their outstanding achievements!
