Excitement is building among students about the upcoming Celebration of Dance.

EVENT DETAILS
DATE:
Wednesday, May 3, 2017 (rain date is the next day)
TIME: 11:30 a.m.
LOCATION: Zwick's Park (location changed due to flooding at Belleville Fairgrounds)

It's all about being active and having fun. That's the purpose of Celebration of Dance. If you have never seen it, picture a sea of 2,500 students from 20 HPEDSB schools dancing in unison, dressed in their school colours and having fun!

Twelve dances are in the line-up this year:

  • Happy
  • Can't Stop the Feeling
  • Watch Me (Whip Nae Nae)
  • Party in the USA
  • That Power
  • Cha Cha
  • Try Everything
  • YMCA
  • Something Big
  • Cotton Eyed Joe
  • Hand Clap
  • Uptown Funk

Students and teachers have been practising for several weeks. They learn the dances by watching videos.

The moments will be captured tweeted through the hashtags #hpecod and #getyourdanceon. Volunteers from the Education Centre are helping with pedestrian traffic, security, being stage hosts and generally getting people and participants to where they need to be.

The first Celebration of Dance took place in spring 1991 and has been an annual event since then. It is a fun and safe way to engage students in daily physical activity while supporting the physical education, and drama and dance curriculum.

  • Bayside Public School
  • Deseronto Public School
  • Frankford Public School
  • Foxboro Public School
