This is an update about construction of the new Harmony Public School.
The project is progressing on schedule. Senior-level school board personnel are on-site every week for meetings with the contractor. They are satisfied with the progress being made.
The centre connecting corridor of the existing school was demolished earlier this month in order to make way for trenching for the electrical and telephone underground services. The remainder of that building will be demolished in the coming weeks. As well, a new and much larger septic system and three large underground water reservoirs for fire-fighting purposes will be excavated and installed. Construction of the larger parking lot, bus loop, fire route and other paving is planned for late August.
Plans are for the new school to be open and ready to receive students on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
