The community will have noticed that a significant amount of work has been done at the new Harmony Public School in recent weeks. Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board now has approval for partial occupancy of the new school.

Staff will be on-site throughout this week to prepare to receive students on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Some work will continue inside while partial occupancy is in place. For example, the learning commons is being completed and installation of the gym floor will occur.

Inside, the new school has bright, spacious classrooms with large windows for natural light, collaborative learning spaces, a learning commons, a large gymnasium, a two-sided stage and modern instructional technologies. Outside, students will have access to extensive outdoor play areas and spaces with trees for shade.

The first day for students to attend the new school will be Tuesday, October 28, after the PA Day. Further information about the first day at the new school will be shared with families later this week. In the meantime, the existing arrangements for students and staff at the three alternative Harmony school sites will continue.

"Our new Harmony Public School is an outstanding facility with a modern learning environment. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our families, students and employees who have been patient and understanding as we worked through this significant project,"said Mandy Savery-Whiteway, Director of Education.
