As part of Bullying Prevention & Awareness Week, a high-profile guest speaker is coming to Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
Travis Price, the co-founder of Pink Shirt Day, will be presenting to students from six secondary schools.

Background on Travis Price
Price is the co-founder of Pink Shirt Day.
In 2007, a Grade 9 student at Price's Nova Scotia school was bullied when he was referred to using homophobic slurs because he wore a pink shirt to school. That afternoon, Price and his friend purchased 75 pink shirts, which were as many as they could buy. The next day, they asked students to wear the pink shirts to school in order to send a message that bullying was unacceptable.
Price was 17 at the time. He is now in his mid-20s, and has been highly successfully in speaking about his own, and other instances of bullying, and what students can do to make positive change.
Price speaks all over Canada, as well as other countries, and has been at some of the largest anti-bullying events around the world. He was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for his speaking contributions.
