Thursday, April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day, a day to develop and increase world knowledge about autism.

The AiM System Plan identifies Reaching High Levels of Student Achievement and Promoting Well-being for Students and Employees as priorities for Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.

As employees of HPEDSB, we have chosen a profession that is in the service of student achievement and well-being. Through our daily interactions with students, their families, community partners and each other, we strive to create welcoming, safe and inclusive learning environments where all students can achieve success in their chosen pathway.

According to the organization Autism Speaks/Light it Up Blue, World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis. WAAD activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism epidemic and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of persons with autism and is a day when individuals with autism are warmly welcomed and embraced in community events around the globe.
