“Dominant & Recessive Inheritance of Hair Texture,” “Pendulum Transportation System” and “Finding a Natural Fertilizer” win at regional science fair

How do dominant and recessive genes effect hair texture? What is a pendulum transportation system? What is involved in finding a natural fertilizer?

Sara Evans, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute; Aiden Haddad, Harry J. Clarke Public School (Destinations Programme); and Meera Moorthy, Harry J. Clarke Public School (Destinations Programme) know they answers! They are the creators of three award-winning projects at the Quinte Regional Science & Technology Fair.

For Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, the best in grade winners this year were:

  • Grade 6: Madison Adams and Sophie Wilson, Park Dale School, for their project Homemade or Colgate?
  • Grade 8: Meera Moorthy, Harry J. Clarke Public School (Destinations Programme), for her project Finding a Natural Fertilizer

The Loyalist College Tuition Scholarship was awarded to Sara Evans, Prince Edward Collegiate Institute, for her project Dominant and Recessive Inheritance of Hair Texture.

QRSTF participants were invited to tour the host site, Loyalist College, to get a first-hand view of the facility and the many programs offered.
