This article presents student achievement results on the following provincial assessments administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) during the 2017-2018 school year:
- Primary and Junior (Grade 3 and 6) Reading, Writing and Mathematics
- Grade 9 Mathematics (Applied and Academic courses)
- Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)
Primary and Junior reading, writing and math
Primary reading results were 66% and Junior reading results were 72%, both of which represent a significant increase of 5 percentage points from last year in each pision. These results indicate the number of students attaining provincial standard of Level 3 or 4. Continued growth in reading achievement has been sustained over a 10-year period and has been an internal focus over time through the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well-Being.
Writing results indicate growth in both the Primary and Junior divisions.
Math results remained the same as last year.

Grade 9 Mathematics
In Academic Math courses, 78% of students achieved Level 3 or 4, which is an increase of 2 percentage points from last year. Student achievement in Academic Math has increased over a 10-year period, which is similar to the provincial results.
The 2017-2018 results indicate that 37% of students in Applied Math courses achieved Level 3 or 4. This represents a decline over time.

Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is administered once a year in the spring. Results represent the percentage of students who were successful in passing the assessment, which is required to graduate.
Results for all course types combined indicate 62% of students were successful. Students who are unsuccessful may retake the test in Grade 11 or take an additional English credit known as the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).
