Posted on 02/04/2019

Each month, school newsletters include a one-page insert called Home-School Connections. It describes ways in which families can enhance student learning at home in the areas of literacy; numeracy; healthy, caring schools and improving student learning.

This month's Home-School Connections (Pdf) features:

  • Kindergarten Registration
    • On-line pre-registration is now available. Children must be 4 years old in 2019 (born in 2015) to enter Kindergarten.
    • A HPEDSB Family Questionnaire (Pdf) is available for families to complete. The purpose of the questionnaire is to gather information that will support your child's transition to school.
    • Documents to bring in:
      1. Your child's birth certificate or passport
      2. Immunization card
      3. Home address
      4. Custody orders, if applicable
  • Are you thinking about elective programs for your child? Pre-registrations for French Immersion, Extended French and Destinations are due to the host school by Friday, February 15, 2019 for September 2019.
  • Where Talk Happens! Ontario's Well-Being Strategy for Education (Pdf)
    • Always promote well-being:
      • Around the dinner table - talk about your day
      • In the car - sing songs, ask questions, play word and sound games
      • Outside - describe, observe, interact
      • Bedtime - talk about the characters in a book, sing bedtime songs, tell a story
