Each month, school newsletters include a one-page insert called Home-School Connections. It describes ways in which families can enhance student learning at home in the areas of literacy; numeracy; healthy, caring schools and improving student learning.
This month's Home-School Connections (Pdf) features:
- Physical: Celebration of Dance is on May 2, 2018. Students come together and dance. Through the physical activity of exploring dance movements created by others, students can develop an understanding of drama, dance forms and techniques that may be applied to their own creative productions.
- Cognitive: Enhancements to curriculum K-12 in Social Studies, History, Geography and Canadian World Studies will be in place September 2018. The revisions have been guided and written by residential school survivors, First Nations, Metis and Inuit partners as well as educational stakeholders.
- Emotional: Spending time in nature is good for our health and well-being but also your child's academic outcomes.
- Social: Learning through inquiry is an extension of people's natural curiosity. Inquiry-based learning is an approach which involves:
- Investigating issues, events or phenomena
- Solving problems
- Drawing conclusions and
- Creating new knowledge
