An event to support parent/guardian awareness and understanding of children's mental health and well-being is coming to Belleville.

Supporting Adult Awareness and Understanding of Mental Health and Well-being of Children

DATE: Wednesday, May 9, 2018

TIME: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Education Centre, 156 Ann Street, Belleville

  • Keynote speaker Dr. David Tranter, professor, co-creator of the Relationship Approach to Education and author of "The Third Path" will present from 5:35 p.m. for one hour. His presentation will focus on building strong and caring relationships, which, combined with well-being and academic success, can create the conditions for every student to flourish.   • Participants can then choose from one of two break-out sessions (6:35 to 7:30 p.m.)
    • Session 1: Town hall forum discussing positive mental health and resilience, with a focus on teens and parents. Hosted by Dr. Julie Gowthorpe, registered social worker, author and expert on emotional mental health and resilience, and Sean Kelly, local radio personality.
    • Session 2: Presentation about building relationships at home, school and in the community. Hosted by Leslie Ford, local child and youth worker certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and with 30 years experience.

Light snacks and refreshments will be available. Door prizes.
