The month of May is recognized as Speech and Hearing Month in Canada. It is a time to recognize the importance of communication health.

The 2015-2020 Strategic Plan includes priorities to provide programs and services to help each student achieve success, and to create welcoming, inclusive and accepting learning environments. We do this through our belief that all students can learn and become globally minded learners and leaders.

According to Speech-Language and AudiologyJoin in recognizing Speech & Hearing Month Canada, the focus is ". . . to raise awareness about communication health and the critical role communication health professionals play in assessing and treating communication disorders. This year's theme is Speak Well. Hear Well. Live Well.

Early intervention and treatment of communication challenges is vital. At HPEDSB, students with speech and language needs are receiving focused support through the work of our speech language pathologists, teachers, educational assistants and early childhood educators, as well as community partners.

Please join in recognizing May as Speech and Hearing Month.
