What is a Model UN?

The Model UN is an event where secondary school students engage with each other about world issues. The topic for this year is Pandemics: The World's Response and Responsibility. Students will represent 20 different nations and will explore, discuss and attempt to arrive at resolutions to address questions regarding global reaction to and management of pandemics and the outbreak and spread of infectious disease.

"This is an authentic, engaging opportunity for students to apply the foundational skills of critical thinking, collaboration, and communication, and to provide our global citizens with a platform from which to share their voices,"said Therese McMahon, Curriculum Coordinator and the event organizer.

Students will examine key issues from a variety of perspectives, including those that take into account economic, humanitarian, and cultural considerations.
