The teaching profession is celebrated around the world through World Teachers' Day on October 5 each year. This day of recognition began in 1994 through UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Reaching High Levels of Student Achievement is one of the priorities in our AiM System Plan. Every day at Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, our dedicated and caring teaching staff make a difference in students' lives. Their professionalism and commitment to student achievement and well-being are valued and appreciated.

Nationally, the Canadian Teachers' Federation is celebrating World Teachers' Day through a public awareness campaign that highlights the contributions of the teaching profession. The national slogan is "It All Starts with a Qualified Teacher."

Please join in recognizing World Teachers' Day this Sunday, October 5.
